ALFA ROMEO 2600 Sprint 1964

James Laurence Cars are delighted to be able to offer this beautiful Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint manufactured on the 5th June 1964 as a right hand drive model and sold to Alfa Romeo Uk London on the 10th September 1964.

The Alfa Romeo 2600 (Tipo 106) was Alfa Romeo´s six-cylinder flagship produced from 1961 to 1968. It was the successor to the Alfa Romeo 2000. It has become historically significant as the last Alfa Romeo to have been fitted with an inline six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts. That had been the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration since the 1920s, but gave way to four-cylinder engines as the factory oriented its production towards more economical mass-produced car models starting in 1950.

The 2600 was introduced at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show,[7] as a sedan with a factory-built body (2600 Berlina), a two-plus-two seater convertible with body by Carrozzeria Touring (2600 Spider), and a coupe with a body by Bertone (2600 Sprint). A convertible based on the Sprint coupe was shown by Bertone in 1963. It was also named 2600 Sprint, but did not enter production.

This particular example is in very fine condition throughout and retains all of it’s original features and equipment with the exception of it’s temperamental original Solex carburetor setup that has been upgraded to the more reliable  and far easier to tune current Webber twin carb set-up, something that was later offered by Alfa Romeo later in the production cycle.

Inside is finished with an Oxblood leather upholstery and with reclining seats, Power windows and AM stereo and rev counter- all very modern tech for this car was produced!

The Sprint is accompanied by a huge history folder detailing all maintenance and repair work carried out over the last several decades. The Chassis has been regularly protected and the engine has received regular maintenance regardless of mileage covered through out the years. The shock absorbers have been replaced for Konis items and the car is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust.

We also have very detailed history on the previous custodians of the car dating back to 1976.

A great investment opportunity with prices of these cars now rapidly on the rise.
